Equipment

  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Hawthorne strainer

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Rim a margarita glass with Tajin. Fill with ice, then set aside.
  • Add the peeled and sliced rough chopped cucumber to the blender and blend for several seconds.
  • Add a splash of water if the cucumber is too thick (less is more!).
  • Add the lime juice, tequila, and Triple Sec to the blender. Blend for several seconds more.
  • Using a Hawthorne strainer, strain the margarita into the glass with ice and Tajin rim. Garnish with skewered cucumber skin on top. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • If you prefer using a cocktail shaker instead of a blender, you can just muddle the cucumbers first to extract the juices, then add the rest of the ingredients to the shaker. Shake well then pour the mixture into the margarita glass.
  • This recipe also works with a salted rim.
  • Garnish the drink with thin cucumber slices instead of the skin if desired.
  • If you want to add a little bit of sweetness, add some agave or simple syrup.
  • These are easy to make for a crowd. Figure about half a cucumber (or less) per serving. And remember cucumbers come in different sizes so this can be an estimate.
*You can strain the cucumber chunks through a fine mesh sieve after blending to remove the solids and end up with the juice. I don't care to take that step but if you want a more traditional texture of a margarita, you can do this.
