Let’s make this Seedlip margarita recipe!

Why You’ll Love This Zero Proof Margarita Mocktail

A Seedlip margarita captures the classic margarita’s vibe and flavor profile, except this one is zero-proof. While there are several versions of Seedlip that you can use to make tasty non-alcoholic drinks, for this one, we used the newer Notas de Agave. *I was sent a bottle by the company.

Here are other reasons why we love sipping this delightful non-alcoholic twist on the classic cocktail:

  • For Sweet Cocktail Lovers: Suzy likes how sweet it is thanks to the Seedlip base and simple syrup combo, but I thought it was like sipping a sweet tart candy—great flavors, but just a tad too sweet for my taste.
  • Healthy Choice: Seedlip Notas de Agave has zero alcohol, calories, and sugar, making it an awesome, guilt-free drink for the health-conscious.
  • Quick and Easy: Five minutes is all you need to make this mocktail from scratch!
  • Refreshingly Good: This Seedlip non-alcoholic margarita recipe offers citrusy and tangy flavors that refresh the palate, perfect for hot summer days.
  • A Crowd Pleaser: It’s a delicious drink you can prepare and enjoy with loved ones, no matter the occasion.

What I like best about the Seedlip Notas de Agave is that it isn’t trying to be tequila. It has nuances of prickly pear which gives it a slightly tart taste but also some nice floral notes too.

There’s no doubt about it: A Seedlip margarita is perfect to serve sober friends and family during any occasion that calls for a margarita. Nobody should feel left out just because they don’t drink alcohol!

Ingredients

Ingredients you need to make a delicious Seedlip margarita.

We used Seedlip Notas de Agave, the newest flavor from Seedlip, to make this mocktail. It offers a combination of agave and lime taste with notes of prickly pear. It has the perfect flavor for making a margarita mocktail!

We had this simple syrup on hand, but you can use whatever you have or make your own simple syrup. You could also use agave or honey. And you can customize this even more by using a flavored simple syrup.

Lastly, we added fresh lime juice to the mix. We can’t stress this enough: you MUST USE FRESH LIME. Bottled juices can’t replicate lime’s natural brightness, acidity, and citrus notes. We always use fresh lime when making any type and flavor of margarita, and we’re applying the same principle to mocktails for the best results!

Step 3

Strain the mocktail mixture into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel on top. Serve and enjoy.

Tips

  • If you find the mocktail too sweet (like I did), you can dial down the sweetness by adding less simple syrup or skipping it altogether. Or try an extra squeeze of lime.
  • If you don’t have the dehydrated version, garnish the drink with fresh lime wheels or wedges. For added aroma, garnish with fresh thyme or basil.

Variations to Try

  • ENJOY IT WITH A SALT RIM Add a salt rim to your glass to give your mocktail a more authentic margarita feel! The slight saltiness will be a nice counterpoint to the agave and lime flavors of the drink.
  • MAKE IT FRUITY – Give this margarita a delightfully fruity edge by adding your favorite fruit juice! Try it with a splash of pineapple, orange, or lemon to enjoy a delicious burst of bright flavors in every sip.
  • SPICE THINGS UP – Muddle some jalapeno slices in the cocktail shaker before adding other ingredients, or swap the Notas de Agave with Seedlip Spice 94 for a spicy mocktail.
  • TRY THIS RECIPE WITH OTHER SEEDLIP FLAVORS – Make this drink using other Seedlip flavors, such as Seedlip Garden 108 or Seedlip Grove 42 for more margarita mocktails!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Seedlip high in sugar?

Despite its sweet taste, Seedlip has no sugar! This makes it a good non-alcoholic spirit to use in place of tequila when making margarita mocktails, especially for those looking to cut back on sugar in their diet.

Is Seedlip low carb?

Not only is it low carb, Seedlip Notas de Agave has 0% Total Carbohydrates.

Can you drink Seedlip straight?

Surprisingly, the company that makes Seedlip recommends to never drink it neat. They suggest enjoying it over lots of ice or as part of cocktail mixers. This is because its flavors really shine only when it’s mixed with tonics or as part of cocktails, especially when chilled.
