Let’s make this easy Rosé Margarita Recipe.

Why You’ll Love This Rosé Wine Cocktail

This margarita with rosé wine (Inspiro Tequila sent us a bottle of their Luna Blanco tequila to use) has a gorgeous color and a super refreshing taste. Combined with a little bit of grapefruit juice, you end up with a drink that looks so feminine and pretty — a perfect way to celebrate the mom figure in your life!

Grapefruit juice letter ice cubes, an edible flower and a section of grapefruit salted rim garnish this drink perfectly and make it so fun to serve!

A Mother’s Day margarita is easy to make, too. With just a cocktail shaker and a citrus squeezer, you can make this citrus-forward margarita with the perfect wine finish. (But even if you don’t like wine, you’ll enjoy this tequila cocktail.)

There’s something about the combination of lightly fruity wine, sweet orange liqueur, and tart grapefruit that gives this Rosé Margarita an edge over the rest.

While we think this is a great margarita recipe for a special occasion, it’s also one of our go-to drinks to sip throughout spring and summer .

Ingredients

A bottle of Inspiro tequila, Cointreau, rose wine, fresh lime, and grapefruit juice.
What you need for making Mother’s Day margarita.

You can use your favorite rosé wine for this recipe, but I like to use one that is fruity. Look for a rosé made of Pinot Noir grapes or Shiraz.

We used Inspiro tequila for this recipe. It’s made from 100% Blue Weber Agave aged in oak barrels for smooth sippability. It’s gluten-free and has zero carbs and zero sugar, leaving you to sip without the guilt. You can use other brands, but silver or blanco tequila works best for this recipe; otherwise, you might end up overpowering the rosé wine.

We love using Cointreau as our orange liqueur for margaritas since it results in a well-balanced, slightly more sophisticated drink but you can use whatever you have on hand.

We use fresh lime, pink grapefruit, and lemon for the fruit juices. Lime is a quintessential ingredient for margaritas while adding lemon just brightens everything up. The grapefruit juice lends more pink and it’s flavor pairs really well with the rosé.

The simple syrup balances the drink. I prefer to use this over agave syrup to let the flavors in the drink really come through. Suzy prefers her drinks sweeter, so she would add more sweetener next time. But I enjoyed it like this.

How to Make Rosé Margarita Recipe

Rim the Margarita Glass

Use a wet brush to moisten the rim of the margarita glass. Dip the moistened portion on a small plate with Twang A Rita Grapefruit Flavor Kosher Salt. It perfectly complements the fruit juice in the drink and looks cute (which think is a very important factor for a margarita). Feel free to use regular margarita salt or sugar instead if you prefer.

“MOM” Ice Cube Garnish for Mother’s Day

"MOM" spelled out in letter ice cubes made from grapefruit juice in a rosé margarita for Mother's Day.

We love to come up with fun garnishes for holidays that make serving a margarita extra memorable. While this easy letter garnish works perfectly for Mother’s Day, with other letters, you can make it work for any time. Make it say a name or a short phrase for a fun surprise when you hand someone a drink.

NOTE: The smaller the letters, the faster these letter ice cubes will melt! Add them to the drink just before serving. Or place them on the slice of grapefruit to make them last a little bit longer.

To make, grab letter ice cube trays or craft molds. Pour grapefruit juice into the M and O letters (make two of the letter M to spell M-O-M) then freeze. It will take several batches (or you can buy several trays as I did).

Be careful when taking the letters out of the molds as they can break!

Tips

  • Chill your ingredients before mixing them! This helps give you a more refreshing summer cocktail.
  • Balance is key. Because every rosé and fresh grapefruit will taste different each time, adjust the sweetness and tartness according to your (and your guest’s) liking.
  • Moisten the glass rim with lime juice as this will give a nice contrast to the salt or sugar rim you’ll use.

Variations to Try

  • USE ROSE CHAMPAGNE instead of rosé wine for a lightly fizzy drink.
  • EXPERIMENT WITH SYRUPS – Add a little peach syrup to add more sweetness and another layer of flavor. I had a Rosé Marg at California Adventure with peach syrup and it was SO good!
  • USE A DIFFERENT WINE – This rosé margarita is delicious but truly you can make this with any white wine instead.
  • NON ALCOHOLIC? – This margarita with rosé is hard to make non-alcoholic because it uses not only tequila and Triple Sec, but also rosé wine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different wine in this margarita?

Yes, you can substitute a different wine for rosé wine. However, the flavor of the wine will change the way the margarita changes. You wouldn’t want to use red wine as I don’t think it would be great with the rest of the recipe as written (we’ll share a red wine margarita in the future) but you can use a white wine.

Can you mix rosé and tequila?

Yes, you can mix rosé and tequila as you can see from this margarita recipe! But if you want to make a less boozy drink, you could leave out the tequila and still make a delicious drink.

Can you use Tequila Rose?

There is a liqueur that is made from a strawberry dairy liqueur and Mexican tequila called Tequila Rose. But I would not use that in this drink. It may be tasty, but since I have never tasted it, I’m not sure!
